Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Vintage Persian Tabriz “Diane Sortant du Bain” Tableau Rug Size: ]]> 5 ft x 4 ft 6 in (1.52 m x 1.37 m) Provenance: From a private home in Los Angeles A finely woven Persian tableau rug interpreting the European painting subject “Diane (Diana Godess of hunting) sortant du bain.” The figures are portrayed within a lush woodland setting rendered in saturated greens, turquoise, golden flesh tones, brown, and deep black, surrounded by a classical floral border. The juxtaposition of a European painted subject with the technical vocabulary of Persian weaving makes this an engaging example of cross-cultural decorative art. The unusually vivid color and accomplished figurative drawing give it strong wall-display appeal. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #494 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even, with no visible signs of wear. All sides are complete and securely finished. There is no dryness in the foundation. The rug is clean and floor-ready.
