Jewellery of the 1980s and early 1990s still fascinates today as an impressive testimony to a time of optimism and abundance: the oil crisis seemed to have been overcome and Wall Street was flourishing. At the same time, a new image of women was gaining ground: Self-confident and strong, women successfully held their own against men in professional life, wore broad shoulder pads and high heels and adorned themselves with expensive rings, necklaces and brooches of unprecedented dimensions - with shiny gold surfaces and lavish gemstone trimmings. A magnificent, radiant red cabochon-cut ruby weighing more than six carats forms the impressive centerpiece of this high-quality ring from this era. Two brilliant-cut diamonds flank the ruby on both sides and impress with their excellent quality. The three gemstones are set in bezel settings, which - like the ring itself - are made from heavy white gold and yellow gold. The ring was made by hand and is heavy and of high quality in the hand. A detailed certificate from the Gemmologisches Labor Austria is enclosed with the ring.
