A solitaire is the classic form of diamond ring - even considered the diamond ring par excellence. But as simple as the basic idea of a ring with a single diamond is, the implementation can be done in so many different ways that it is almost impossible to list them all. The mid-20th century ring we have here is entirely dedicated to the colour white. It holds an old 1.93 ct diamond in an individual old European cut, held by a pale platinum prong setting. No ornamentation distracts from the large diamond, making the fine gemstone the focal point of the jewellery. The stone sparkles white and shows only very small inclusions that are not visible to the naked eye. The beautiful cut of the stone, a so-called "Old European Cut" is round and makes the diamond appear more physical and individual. The diamond was already cut at the end of the 19th century and then came as a historic gemstone probably in the 1960s in its current setting. The ring is in very good condition and found its way to us from Vienna. A fine engagement ring in wonderful quality, it comes with a detailed appraisal from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation Idar-Oberstein.
