Vintage Toi-et-moi Ring with Diamonds & Blue Sapphire, c. 1970

The perpetual alternation of day and night has been a symbol of the cycle of life since ancient times. In this white gold ring, this idea of opposites belonging together is captured - making the ring far more than just a piece of jewellery with sapphire and diamonds. Created from white gold around 1970, the piece of jewellery features a radiant white diamond and a midnight blue sapphire set on a curved ring band with eight further sparkling diamonds. The juxtaposition of the two bigger gemstones identifies the ring as a so-called "toi-et-moi" piece of jewellery. This type of "you-and-me" jewellery is intended to symbolize the two lovers: Napoleon already adored his Josephine with such a sapphire and diamond ring. The ring is in very good condition. It came to us here in Berlin.
