Vintage Yellow Gold Bangle, c. 1980

The luster of gold has captivated people since time immemorial. This precious metal, the colour of the sun, has been regarded in many cultures and throughout the centuries as a coveted symbol of power, wealth, and beauty. A wonderful example of gold’s alluring colour is this bangle, crafted around 1980. The simple yellow gold bangle is slightly arched and has a mirror-polished surface. Gold bracelets had already made a comeback during the years of the economic miracle, when visibly worn gold jewelry became a sign of regained prosperity. Gold remained extremely prominent in the 1980s as well. In keeping with the “power dressing” trend of those years, jewellery was once again allowed to be bold, precious, and visible. The bangle is in very good condition and came to us here in Berlin.
