VIOLET MANNERS, DUCHESS OF RUTLAND (BRITISH 1856-1937) PORTRAIT OF DIANA MANNERS Pencil and watercolour collage Signed and inscribed Diana (lower left) 33 x 26cm (12 x 10in.) Marion Margaret Violet Lindsay, granddaughter of 24th Earl of Crawford, was regarded as one of the great beauties of her day. In 1882, she married Henry Manners, who became 8th Duke of Rutland in 1906. She established a career as an artist and sculptor who exhibited internationally in London, Paris and America.
