Virgin and Child Seated, Gothic School, 14th Century

Descriptio Virgin and Child. Measures 59 x 21 x 15 cm. Small seated image of the Virgin with a crown and veil, holding the Child on her left knee. The Mother raises a hand holding a piece of fruit, while the Child, depicted frontally with schematic features, holds a small sphere. Both wear tunics with simple folds and retain traces of polychromy in shades of red, blue, and gold. The composition is compact and vertical, with a marked frontality and devotional character. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
