Vittorio Altieri (XX-XXI) - Il custode della città lunare

Artist: Vittorio Altieri Title: The Keeper of the Moon City Technique: Oil on panel Dimensions: 40x40 cm An imaginary architecture emerges from a compact black background, illuminated by the white disc of the moon. Slender towers, white buildings, and red or turquoise roofs arrange themselves in a set of sharp geometries, punctuated by narrow, dark windows. The gray shadows on the sides of the structures suggest volume with simplicity, while green and ochre trees introduce elongated and curved shapes that soften the village’s verticality. A tiny human figure crosses the elevated passage on the left, lending a measure to the scene’s silent monumentality. A little higher, a white and blue hot air balloon seems to watch over the landscape. In the lower band, buildings, vegetation, and figure reflect in a dark and motionless surface, creating a second mirrored space. The contrast between the night sky and the rich colors gives the work a fairy-tale, contemplative character, like the vision of a city safeguarded beyond time.
