Waco, Texas. $50 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 679. The Central NB. Charter #10220. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. A financial relic of the Central National Bank of Waco (Charter# 10220) which had organized in June 1912. This evenly circulated $50 Plain Back nonetheless stands among the last of its type and denomination to be issued by this institution shortly before merging with the First National Bank (Charter# 2189) in 1924. As a result, one may notice a bank serial number that reads "1547" which also stands as the highest serial number seen among the $50 Plain Backs recorded on this bank while signatures attributable to Cashier Charles F. Eubank and President Willis Howell McCullough (Sr.) are particularly distinct and offer a bold impression that's not easily forgotten lending this note a quality bound to impress bidders. Further held together with the fact that only 35 non-institutional notes are recorded here by the National Bank Note Census, it takes hardly a logical leap to figure that this note presents a rare opportunity to be had. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
