Waldemar Swarzy - Zwiedzajcie Zoo (Visit the Zoo)

Vintage original poster from 1967 "Zwiedzajcie Zoo" (Visit the Zoo), depicting a tiger, was part of a series drawn by the legendary Polish artist Waldemar Swierzy to promote the Warsaw Municipal Zoo. Swierzy's zoo posters have become iconic examples of mid-20th-century graphic design, even though they are original editions commissioned by the communist state to promote cultural events, being the only means of expression for artists of the time; a sublime protest against the regime shines through. Printed handmade, the color tone often varied in intensity. This poster comes from a small Venice gallery, the “Center Posters and Gadgets,” which closed in 1971 and mainly dealt with posters, for pop art. Excellent condition. The work is accompanied by the invoice and a certificate of authenticity and provenance.
