All auctions / Furniture, Design & Mirrors / Wall shelf unit (2) - Pair of wall-mounted golden shelves...

Elegant and scenographic pair of wall shelves in carved and gilded wood, prudently datable to the first quarter of the 20th century. The structures feature a rich neoclassical taste with baroque echoes, composed of opposed volutes, foliate motifs and floral terminal elements, molded in deep relief and enhanced by the warm gilded finish. Particularly beautiful are the upper shaped shelves, painted with green veined marble imitation: the contrast between the deep green of the shelves and the gold of the structures gives the pair a notable decorative presence. The gilding preserves a pleasant patina of time. There are abrasions, signs of use and small finish losses, compatible with age and clearly documented in the photographs. The two shelves, formed to be displayed in pair, are particularly evocative beside a mirror, a painting or an architectural element and can also integrate effectively into contemporary and eclectic environments. Overall measurements of the two side-by-side shelves: 66 × 20 × H 32 cm. The photographs of the front, the shelves, the decorative details and the back constitute an integral part of the description and of the lot's conditions.
