Walnut chest with lower drawer, Spanish School, 18th Century

Descriptio Carved and molded walnut wood with iron fittings. Measures 63 x 131 x 53 cm. This chest, with its architectural lines, consists of a hinged upper section and an integrated lower drawer, decorated with molded panels and geometric relief motifs in the Castilian folk tradition. The front features a symmetrical arrangement of rectangular and rhomboidal coffers that lend visual dynamism and a sense of depth. The surface retains a rich patina, darkened by use and the passage of time, highlighting the piece’s authentic character and the quality of the walnut used. The addition of the lower drawer reflects a functional evolution in 18th-century domestic furniture, where storage was optimized without sacrificing aesthetic monumentality. The piece belongs to the tradition of Spanish folk furniture influenced by late Baroque models, standing out for its solid construction and the decorative power of its moldings. 63 x 131 x 53 cm. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed.
