Walter Avis Bufflehead Hen Decoy

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. 1st Quarter 20th Century. Walter Avis ( circa 1890 - 1950). This early bufflehead hen has great form for such a small bird with the chinless attributes characteristic of Avis's carvings. The slotted groove for the midsection and neck assembly is a very interesting style not seen on all of his decoys. Unmarked.
