Oil on canvas, signed at lower right, signed and titled to verso, framed. Stretcher size 24 x 36 in.; Frame dimensions 27 x 39 in. Wayne was an accomplished multidisciplinary artist best known for his abstract sculpture and painting. Raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he later settled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. He earned his BFA from Ohio University and continued his studies at Pratt Institute, the Art Students League of New York, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Throughout his career, Wayne completed numerous public commissions across the United States. His work entered a number of museum, university, and institutional collections, including Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina; Fairmont State University, Fairmont, West Virginia; The Mint Museum, Charlotte, North Carolina; and The Ohio State University. Repaired puncture to canvas at lower center, very difficult to discern when on display.
