WEATHERS (Felicia). American opera singer, soprano. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Felicia Weathers enjoyed an international career on major opera stages, notably in the repertoires of Verdi, Puccini, and Richard Strauss. She also distinguished herself in her interpretations of lieder, spirituals, and American folk songs. Photograph with an autographed dedication signed “Felicia Weathers” to Jeannette. No place, no date [circa 1960–1970]. 14 × 9 cm. A beautiful black-and-white photographic portrait of the opera singer, shown from the waist up, with an elegant, voluminous hairstyle, wearing a pearl necklace and a fur stole. At the bottom, a handwritten dedication in blue ink: “For Jeannette, my warmest thanks. Your Felicia Weathers.” Promotional photograph for DECCA Records, featuring on the reverse a list of several of the singer’s recordings, including Richard Strauss’s *Elektra*, arias by Verdi and Puccini, as well as lieder and spirituals. This item attests to the recording career and international renown of this American soprano. Two small, old perforations in the upper part of the portrait, with traces of rust; slight signs of handling and a few foxing spots on the reverse. The dedication and signature are clearly legible.
