This wheel-thrown stoneware mug was produced by John Dermer as part of the Denver Earth line in the 1970s. The vessel features a loop handle and a body defined by horizontal throwing rings. The upper section is finished in a speckled, cream-colored glaze and is decorated with a hand-painted botanical sprig in dark brown and black. The lower portion of the mug is unglazed reddish-brown clay, featuring various impressed decorative stamps including starburst and cross-hatching patterns. The rim is finished with a dark brown wash. Markings include Wedgwood impressed mark, a printed label on the interior rim stating #52223 belt mug / Denver earth / textured & hand painted. The base is incised with the JD initials. The base also retains a circular white label from the Rubin Collection. Dimensions: 4.50"L x 3.50"W x 4.00"H.
