A stylized Art Deco ceramic sculpture of two monkeys, designed by John Skeaping for Wedgwood. The piece depicts a mother monkey protectively embracing her young, rendered with smooth, streamlined forms characteristic of the artist animalier work for the factory in the late 1920s. The sculpture is finished in a uniform high gloss pale yellow glaze and sits upon an integrated rectangular plinth. The side of the base features an incised cursive signature reading J Skeaping, while the underside of the hollow base bears an impressed Wedgwood factory mark in block letters.
