A large octagonal serving bowl produced by Wedgwood in Staffordshire, England. The vessel is crafted from fine earthenware featuring a pale celadon-green ground. The exterior is decorated with continuous landscape scenes in polychrome enamels, depicting figures in traditional Chinese costume, perched and flying birds, and stylized trees with purple and green foliage. The interior rim is finished with a black scalloped border interspersed with floral sprigs and medallions containing auspicious symbols, including the Shou character for longevity. The interior center features a circular medallion with a landscape scene including figures, a bird, and a pagoda. The base bears a printed black mark reading WEDGWOOD ETRURIA ENGLAND. Several contemporary inventory and auction labels are affixed to the underside. This piece represents the English Chinoiserie revival of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
