Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) - Dessin offert à Adam Biro

A superb original drawing by Wifredo Lam, offered by the artist to Adam Biro. This drawing constitutes a precious testimony of the friendship that united Wifredo Lam to Adam Biro, editor, writer and French art historian. Founder of Éditions Adam Biro, specializing in art books, he maintained privileged links with many major artists of the 20th century. This work, personally offered by Lam, thus benefits from an exceptional provenance. Born in Cuba in 1902, Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) is one of the major figures of 20th-century art. A friend of Pablo Picasso and close to André Breton, he developed a unique artistic language, blending cubism, surrealism and Afro-Cuban heritage. His works are today housed in the world’s most prestigious international collections, notably at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Centre Pompidou, the Tate, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. His influence and the numerous exhibitions devoted to him in the greatest museums of the world attest to his place among the indispensable artists of modern art.
