The inkwell, crafted in 1865 (the marks confirm its authenticity and the Victorian era), by the renowned London silversmiths William Thomas Wright & Frederick Davies, features a fine finish that reproduces the horse’s coat, while a horseshoe, also in silver, adorns its base. The elegant lid reveals a removable glass insert for ink and bears the inscription: "In memory of Playmate aged 20" (In memory of Playmate, aged 20), a touching tribute to the beloved horse. The underside bears signs of age, consistent with its years, attesting to its long history and adding authenticity and character to this antique object.
