All auctions / Ethnographical / With Iron inclusions!!!- Primitive Achondrite Meteorite
Winonaite are a rare class of primitive achondrites. They are rocky meteorites that represent a missing link in planetary evolution: they reached the temperature sufficient to initiate an internal fusion process, but cooled before their components fully separated, thus preserving certain characteristics of chondrites. They contain metal in varying proportions, and in this specimen you can see a good amount of metallic inclusions on the surface, in the form of "splashes" or metallic spots of different sizes, something that adds beauty and significantly increases the piece’s value. Winonaites began as a primitive chondritic asteroid before impacts and radioactive decay raised its internal temperature to almost melt it completely. The name Winonaites is due to the meteorite Winona, discovered in 1928 in Arizona (USA), in an archaeological find. The original specimen was found deliberately buried inside a stone chest in the prehistoric ruins of the Elden village. It is believed that Native Americans witnessed its fall or recognized its special nature. Classified as In Ghar 001, the exact location where it was found is known—something uncommon among meteorites found in Northwest Africa—making it a worldwide novelty, being one of the latest official classifications on record. There are only 5.7 kg of this meteorite in the world, so this specimen is one of the few that will go up for sale. Don't miss this opportunity. We are members of the leading international associations related to meteorites, so we guarantee the lifetime authenticity of all our meteorites and jewelry made from this material.
