Wonderful Entourage Ring With Ruby & Historic Diamonds, Bordeaux Circa 1975

This ring comes from one of the most famous wine-growing regions in the world. It bears the hallmark of the French city of Bordeaux. Fittingly, it holds a large, natural ruby in its center, the color of a delicious red wine. Weighing 0.85 ct, the ruby has an oval facet cut that beautifully highlights the deep berry tones of the gemstone. The ring was created in the last third of the 20th century, as its design and manufacture suggest. The hallmark also suggests that it was created before 1992. However, the ring tells a story that extends far beyond this period: the diamonds that support the ruby as an entourage to its brilliance were cut as early as the end of the 19th century. Their individual old cuts, the so-called "Old European Cut", bear witness to this time. They were probably taken from an heirloom to adorn another beautiful hand in this way. This timeless ring is in very good condition. It comes with an independent appraisal, which we have had prepared for the gemstones used.
