Wxyz (1980) - "322-1"

WXYZ (1980) – “322-1” (2026) Original Concrete Sculpture – Unique Piece (1/1) Original contemporary sculpture entirely handcrafted by French street artist WXYZ, created through the careful assembly of different individually pigmented concretes. In this interpretation of his emblematic “322-1” character, WXYZ explores the relationship between color, material and abstraction, transforming raw concrete into a unique sculptural composition. Unlike a traditionally painted sculpture, the colors are incorporated directly into the concrete itself. A sophisticated palette of slate blue, charcoal grey, soft coral pink, pale yellow and vibrant blue creates an organic arrangement of overlapping shapes and contrasting textures. The irregular colored forms seem to emerge naturally from the mineral surface, suggesting a fragmented abstract portrait, somewhere between contemporary painting and sculpture. The subtle interplay of muted tones and brighter accents gives the piece a distinctive visual harmony, while the visible pores and natural imperfections of the concrete reinforce its authentic, handcrafted character. The sculpture is finished with a protective varnish, enhancing the depth of the pigments and revealing the richness of the material. From Graffiti to Sculpture The “322-1” is an emblematic figure in WXYZ’s artistic universe, born from his transition from graffiti to three-dimensional art. Its name refers to Article 322-1 of the French Penal Code concerning damage to property — a direct reference to the artist’s roots in graffiti culture. Through this distinctive geometric silhouette, WXYZ translates the visual language of the street into a contemporary sculptural object. In this particular version, the artist adopts a more organic and painterly approach, allowing the different colored concretes to interact freely within the architectural structure of the figure. The result is a compelling dialogue between abstraction, urban materials and contemporary sculpture.
