All auctions / Contemporary Art / XTC Artist - Mc Caviar Red
Red and gold McCaviar cone with its mother-of-pearl spoon by XTC. Original sculpture designed, handmade and finished by the Artist XTC using polyethylene, resin and acrylic paints and varnishes and a genuine mother-of-pearl spoon. Probably XTC's most emblematic work to date, in a red and gold version. A reappropriation of the McDonald’s cone, a future luxurious dish in a fast-food version? Not impossible! This is not a cardboard McDo cone; it was created from plastic materials and painted by XTC. The glass cloche is an integral part of the piece. Signed and numbered 15 on the bottom, Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided. The copy in the photo is not necessarily the one that will be shipped. Careful and trackable shipping. Born in 1978 in the heart of France, XTC shaped his artistic universe through an interest in Design, Pop Art, and more recently Street Art. This visual exploration became a passion that had to be realized. XTC defines himself as a self-taught plastic artist, aligned with the Pop Art movement, through the subversion of contemporary consumer goods. His creativity expresses itself through the bold staging of icons of popular consumption (such as McDonald’s, Malabar, Chupa), which he makes collide with the world of luxury (including Chanel, Hermes, Veuve Clicquot champagne, or Caviar) and Street Art, further blurring the already tenuous boundaries between these worlds. He expresses his art through sculpture, blending painting with all kinds of resins, plastics, and sometimes minerals. He draws inspiration, among others, from Banksy, Keith Haring, Orlinski, Andy Warhol, Obey and advertising and addictions in general. All possible defects or imperfections are an integral part of the work. The base is wood and may have a slightly raised grain."
