Y A REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS MARQUETRY CENTRE TABLE IN THE MANNER OF WILLIAM TROTTER, CIRCA 1820 70cm high, the top 132cm diameter William Trotter (d. 1833), Edinburgh cabinet maker, was a leader of Scottish Regency furniture design. The present table relates to furniture Trotter made for Paxton House, Berwickshire and elsewhere; rosewood was a timber in which he worked regularly and hipped legs issuing from the quadriform are a feature of many Trotter designs.
