TROLLOPE, CIRCA 1850 The top with arabesque marquetry including, maple, harewood, purpleheart, and silky oak 72cm high, 136cm diameter By the beginning of the 1850s George Trollope and Sons were well established cabinet makers, as illustrated by their exhibits in the 1851 Great Exhibition. Of course, the table shows minor knocks and bumps, as is to be expected with use, and on a mahogany ground, again indicating the high level of quality throughout The table pivots on its block as is intended, the block with a hinged stay, as is seen on the better flip-top tables of the period The top remains flat and split-free The base is sturdy and level, and retains its sunken castors The table is generally very good and in a pleasing 'Sleepy' dry condition as one would like to see Please refer to all additional images available via email, they are a vital part of this condition report Condition Report Disclaimer, Y, Y A VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD, WALNUT, COROMANDEL AND ARABESQUE MARQUETRY CENTRE TABLE POSSIBLY BY J & G.
