About the artist: Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools, currently living and working in Alicante, Spain. Owner and partner of a company dedicated to the sale, representation and development of artists and artworks, Velázquez combines her business vision with deep artistic sensibility. This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape, and the intimate relationship between woman and her surroundings. Her works address with subtlety and strong visual impact topics such as beauty, love, sensuality, and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic, and refined atmospheres. With a vibrant and expressive aesthetic, Yamila Velázquez manages to fuse classical influences with a modern language, yielding versatile, fresh, and deeply evocative works. The painterly texture of her images, the masterful use of color, and the emotionally balanced composition position her work as a current artistic proposal of high aesthetic value. This image printed on canvas unfolds a scene that transcends realism to immerse itself in a symbolic and poetic universe where classical art embraces the fantastical. At first glance, we are presented with a monumental seashell emerging from the sand like a natural altar, containing inside not a conventional pearl but a translucent sphere that encapsulates a full fragment of the ocean: a moving wave, the reflected sky, and a celestial atmosphere dotted with stars. From a technical point of view, the composition is a symphony of blues, ochres, nacreous whites, and golden reflections. The treatment of light and transparency is resolved with exquisite sensitivity. The sphere not only reflects its surroundings but seems to contain them, as if the essence of the sea, the sky, and life itself had been trapped in a bubble of eternity. The waves, both outside and inside the sphere, intertwine visually and metaphysically, blending the boundary between interior and exterior, the tangible and the dreamt. The presence of seagulls suspended in flight, the jet of water bursting into the air, and the swell add dynamism to a scene that otherwise might appear purely contemplative. The eternal quietude of the sphere contrasts with the incessant movement of the sea, generating a poetic tension between the ephemeral and the eternal. The image seems to speak to us of the sacred moment when time stops to reveal an ancestral secret: the soul of the ocean, contained in a divine pearl. Conceptually, this work can be read as an allegory of the sublime. The ocean—classical symbol of the infinite, the immeasurable, and the primal—becomes here an object of intimate contemplation. The shell acts as a natural reliquary, the sphere as a cosmic gem, and the marine environment as a temple open to vastness. The work invites meditation on origins, on pure beauty, and on the need to pause and look beyond what is visible. “Heart of the Ocean” is a visual ode to the mystery of the natural world, to its sacred and transcendent character. In its flawless execution, it blends the technical preciosity of classical painting with a symbolic imagination that brushes against the mystical. This image not only adorns but moves. It does not merely represent but reveals. In it, the viewer does not find a simple marine scene, but a door to the eternal.
