Her works address with nuance and strong visual impact topics such as beauty, love, sensuality and feminine delicacy, always framed in enveloping, romantic and refined atmospheres. With a vibrant and expressive aesthetic, Yamila Velázquez manages to fuse classical influences with a modern language, resulting in versatile, fresh and deeply evocative works. The painterly texture of her images, the masterful use of color and the emotionally balanced composition position her work as a current artistic proposal of high aesthetic value. Shipping and presentation: The work will be carefully packed by a professional and shipped in a rigid cardboard tube, internally protected with bubble wrap to ensure its integrity during transport. This diptych-format work reinterprets two legendary video game figures, Mario and Pikachu, sculpted with a meticulous texture of blocks and assembled pieces with a stony appearance. On the left panel, Mario victoriously raises a star over a block with a question mark in the middle of a reddish background, while on the right panel, Pikachu remains seated peacefully in a natural setting reading a book. Traversing the rustic anatomy of both sculptures run deep cracks illuminated by intense golden flashes, aligning directly with the philosophy of Kintsugi. This traditional Japanese technique holds that fractures and scars should not be hidden, but repaired with gold resin to honor the object; in this way, the gold veins on Mario and Pikachu’s bodies honor the passage of time, the defeats overcome and the value of resilience in each hero’s journey.
