Yoshitomo Nara - Sorry, I couldn’t draw the left eye! (2003) Official poster High-quality offset print Poster size: 72.8 cm x 51.5 cm This iconic work by Yoshitomo Nara features a little girl with a gaze that is both ingenuous and uneasy, one eye — the left — missing or covered. The title, “Sorry, I couldn’t draw the left eye!”, functions as an ironic confession: it conveys the artist’s admitted imperfection, while revealing an intimate and psychological dimension. The absent eye becomes a symbol of a wound or a hidden part of the self. Nara thus evokes the difficulty of fully expressing one’s emotions, vulnerability, and even the loss of innocence. The child, a recurring motif in his work, acts as a mirror of the adult: naive in appearance, yet bearing a deep melancholy. Will be carefully packed when shipped.
