Ystad-Metall, Sweden - Gunnar Ander - Candelabrum 1950s Design - Bronze

A striking and sculptural Bronze Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian four-light candelabra, designed in the 1950s by Gunnar Ander for Ystad-Metall, Sweden. The large candelabra features an impressive linear architectural form in bronze, with four circular bronze candle plates, geometric supports and distinctive spherical end details. The dark, almost blackened bronze surface contrasts beautifully with the warm bronze edges and the rich green verdigris patina visible inside the candle cups. Its bold geometric construction gives the piece a distinctly Scandinavian Modern and Brutalist character. Heavy, solid and highly decorative, it makes an excellent centerpiece for a dining table, sideboard or console. A particularly appealing example of Gunnar Ander's characteristic approach to combining strong geometric forms with functional candlelight.
