Technique on support: Watercolor Artwork title: “Bateau Belem” Author: Yves de Mare (1924-1988) - French XXth Century School Period: 19th Century Country of origin: France Good condition in accordance with its age and use Overall dimensions: 39x32 cm. Original watercolor signed by Yves de Mare depicting the mythical French three-masted Belem, viewed from the side and sailing on tranquil waters with the tricolor flag waving at the stern. The artist works with a soft palette of ochre, blue and gray tones, achieving a serene atmosphere that highlights the elegant hull silhouette and the intricate rigging of the historic schooner, the last great French merchant ship of the 19th century still in operation. Yves de Mare (France, 1924-1988) was an artist specializing in marine painting and naval scenes, known for his representations of sailing ships and historic vessels, in both oil and watercolor. The work measures approximately 39 x 32 cm and is presented framed with a neutral-colored mat and a gold filet, which enhances the watercolor and makes it ready to hang. An ideal piece for naval art collectors, lovers of the great traditional sailing ships, or those interested in French maritime history, since Belem has had multiple lives: transatlantic freighter, British luxury yacht, Italian training ship, and today an emblematic French training vessel. The shipment of the product will be undertaken by the buyer and calculated based on dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include professional custom packaging, as well as a personalized shipment with tracking number and warranty. The frame protecting the work is offered as a courtesy, though it has its own value. It is provided at no additional cost so that the work can be displayed immediately at its destination. No claims or cancellation requests will be accepted for damages to the frame that do not affect the integrity of the artwork. The buyer will be responsible for paying import duties and any applicable taxes in the destination country, if applicable. The seller is exempt from any responsibility regarding these charges, which are determined and demanded by the destination country’s customs authorities. If an export license is required, the corresponding costs will be borne by the buyer and will vary according to the value of the work.
