Oil painting depicting a seascape titled "The Blue Bay" - 2026 An artwork that will bring a touch of authenticity and character to your interior. The painting depicts a nocturnal or twilight seaside landscape. The composition rests on a simple balance between the verticality of masts and tree trunks and the horizontality of the shore. The composition is clear and streamlined, guiding the eye from the water to the village and the pine foliage. Blue dominates almost the entire canvas, creating a suffocating, calm, melancholic atmosphere. The palette is enhanced by small notes of warm and cool contrast — the bright red of the hulls and the pink-ochre of the land standing out on the dark blue. The elements are synthesized to the extreme; architectural details, vegetation, or rigging are erased in favor of flat areas and simple geometric forms. This work is in the naïve art, modern figurative or synthestic style. Painting by artist Yves Decaudan - 1954 Yves Decaudan's work is part of a colorful figurative trend, heavily influenced by Fauvism and the Pont-Aven school, with a particular attachment to coastal Breton scenes. His works regularly feature moments of calm, reading, or outdoor reverie in a maritime or Mediterranean setting where time seems suspended. The artist's work is characterized by expressive and poetic figuration, driven by a keen sense of color and the synthesis of forms. The artist favors flat areas of pure, intense colors — like this deep blue contrasted with the blazing red — creating an immediate, luminous visual tension. The decorative elements are outlined and simplified, going to the essential without lingering on anatomical detail or strict realism, which brings his work closer to Fauvism or art posters. His subjects, often solitary and maritime, convey an impression of stillness, serenity, or suspended daydreaming. Through backgrounds worked in texture or speckled with light brushstrokes, he establishes a poetic depth rather than a geometric one.
