Barbro Östlihn was a Swedish abstract pop artist known for her large geometrically patterned paintings. She was active in New York for a long time where she belonged to the artistic avant-garde. Östlihn was married to Öyvind Fahlström, whose works she often helped to produce, and she frequently participated in his “happenings”. Östlihn was one of few women who exhibited at Pop Art in London’s Hayward Gallery in 1969. Several of Östlihn’s works can be viewed at Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
