Cartier Watches

In 1847, Louis-François Cartier set up his now-infamous jewellers in the French capital. The elegant pieces produced by Cartier became must-haves amongst royalty and aristocrats across the world, coveted for their neoclassical style and opulent features such a diamonds and platinum. Some forty years after his grandfather founded the company, Louis Cartier designed the brand's first wristwatch for men - the 'Santos' - for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who had complained about the inconvenience of the pocket watch whilst flying. Today, Cartier watches are a firm favourite amongst celebrities and royalty, with the Duchess of Cambridge frequently sporting the 'Ballon Bleu de Cartier' model. Although the brand continues to produce new models, vintage Cartier watches - like the 'Tank' model - are highly-sought after on the collector's market.
