Ed Ruscha (1937-) USA

Ed Ruscha is an American pop artist who was considered to be in the vanguard of the genre. Ruscha has worked with many pop art techniques including painting, photography, graphic arts, artists' books and videos.
Ruscha made a name for himself in the early 1960s through his painting, which often included words and phrases and were sometimes composed of collages from his own photographs. He had his first solo exhibition at the Leo Castelli Gallery in New York in 1973. Ruscha's graphic works are currently popular with art collectors in the US.
