Eric Detthow was a Swedish visual artist who was born in Vassända-Naglum, near Vänersborg. Detthow first studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and later in Paris, where he was influenced by the works of Paul Cézanne and Georges Seurat. In the 1920s, Detthow became a member of the Salon d'Automne, a Parisian exhibition organization.
His paintings are executed in a cool color palette using green and blue nuances. He was a highly skilled colorist. The motifs are characterized by landscape scenes and figure compositions.
