Georg Pauli (1855-1935) Sweden

Georg Pauli was a Swedish painter and author. Pauli studied sporadically at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm and the Academie Julien in Paris. He found inspiration and developed his art during his journeys abroad. Pauli refined his landscape art in Barbizon and Grez-sur-Loing. While he was in Rome he found inspiration for his fresco painting in classical art. His classic inspiration came to influence his monumental paintings and adornment of public buildings in Sweden. Pauli also found Cubism to be interesting and intellectually challenging, but was artistically never completely comfortable in that style. Pauli’s work is represented at Nationalmuseum and Waldemarsudde in Stockholm and at Jönköping Museum.
