Hertha Bengtsson was a Swedish ceramic and glass artist born in Blekinge. She worked for companies such as Hackefors Porslin, Rörstrand, Höganäs Keramik AB and Strömbergshyttan. During the 1970s, she was also active in Germany at the Thomas factory within the Rosenthal Group.
Her breakthrough as a designer came in 1951 when she created the Rörstrand table service Blue Fire.
Today there is a foundation in Hertha Bengtsson's name that awards grants to talented young Swedish ceramic artists. These grants are intended to promote continuing education and research in the field.
