Hugo Carlberg (1880-1943) Sweden

Visual artist Hugo Carlberg studied with August Malmström at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts from 1900 to 1905. Initially Carlberg dedicated himself to figure painting, but he was also interested in plein air painting. Between 1905 and 1907 Carlberg traveled to study in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
Carlberg was largely influenced by French plein air painting and is today best known for his landscapes in which he depicts spring and winter motifs from Småland and Bornholm.
