Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) Austria

Austrian architect Hoffmann was a very important player in the development of austrian art nouveau; wienerjugend. Inspired by his teacher Otto Wagner Hoffmann started working for his tutor after his studies at the Vienna art academy. He was also inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the british Arts and Craft movement which is made clear when looking at his uncluttered jugend style.
Josef Hoffmann was a prominent figure in the Vienna Secession and in 1903, together with Koloman Moser, he founded the production cooperative Wiener Werkstätte.
