Lars Englund (1933-) Sweden

Lars Englund is a Swedish sculptor and painter who was born in Stockholm. Englund studied under Vilhelm Bjerke-Petersen between 1950 and 1951, and with Fernand Léger in Paris in 1952. Englund’s first show was at Lilla Paviljongen in Stockholm in 1953. Experimental designs that often include materials such as plastic, steel, aluminum and carbon fiber are characteristic of his work. Englund’s art is ingrained with a desire to both master and submit to the material while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of the concept of art itself. His work has been exhibited worldwide and he has represented Sweden at several international exhibitions.
