Ray Bernice Alexandra Kaiser James was an american designer, artist and filmmaker. She is seen as one of the most groundbreaking contributors in the fields of furniture design, industrial design, manufacturing, photographic arts and architecture. Together with her husband Charles Eames she produced a numerous array of work that would be considered classics. Some of their most prominent pieces are the ”Eames Lounge Chair” for Herman Miller Company, the ”Eames House”, the coat hanger ”Hang it All” and the ”Wire Mesh Side Chair”.
We find this hidden gem on a street behind Santa Croce in Florence. The architects Andrea and Isa Tanini’s home is surprisingly enough not situated in a historic Florentine palazzo, but instead in a building from the 1970’s. It is also this era that pervades the whole flat from the lounge suite, rugs, to dining table and chairs.
During two days this week, Wright Auction will hold a sale filled to the brim with objects signed by the greatest creators of the 20th and 21st centuries. Amongst the international designers, you’ll find several Italian names: Marco Zanuso, Carlo Mollino and Osvaldo Borsani to name a few.
