Stephan Balkenhol (1957-) Germany

Stephan Balkenhol is a German sculptor whose work consists of sculptures and reliefs. His rough-hewn painted wooden sculptures typically depict animals, people and architecture, sometimes using surreal shapes. Indifferent, enigmatically staring people are the central motif of his sculptures. His tallest sculpture to date is a 6-meter tall male torso of cedar, which has been standing in the Forum of Caesar in Rome since 2009.
