Sven X:et Erixson (1899–1970) Sweden

Sven Erixson, known as X-et, was born in Stockholm in 1899 and became an influential artist in modern Swedish painting. Erixson began at the age of 14 as an apprentice to painting master Oscar Strömblad, who made sure that Erixson studied Decorative Painting in the evenings.
Erixson trained to be a drawing teacher at Högre Konstindustriella Skolan, now known as the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design, where he worked for a brief period, before again taking up decorative painting at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.
Erixson’s art conveys spontaneity, characterized by a temperamental style with color patterns and infinite imagination. No label or stylistic definition could be imposed upon his work; rather, he recounted his experiences with spirited narrative zest.
During the war, Erixson painted on waxed paper, in part for practical reasons, but also to achieve the glossy surface seen with oil painting.
