Norwegian artist Unni Askeland studied at the art and design school in Oslo and at the art school in Bergen. Askeland has an interest in contemporary popular culture and celebrities, which the artist expresses by reworking the works of other artists. Askeland received special recognition for her series Munch Adoptions from 2004 in which she adorned one of Munch's paintings with vampire teeth.
Her exhibitions have been shown internationally in Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and New York. The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Norway houses a large collection of Askeland’s works. The artist is currently active in Oslo.
