Verner Panton was a Danish designer and interior designer who counted both Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen as teachers. Panton was one of the first to break from a long tradition of Scandinavian aesthetics and his design was characterised by colour, geometry and futurism. Panton was influenced by pop and technology and also made the first inflatable piece of furniture. In the beginning of the 60's Panton started a long collaboration together with the furniture manufacturer Vitra, for whom he later on made the iconic Panton chair. The chair became a real money-spinner and today has earned a place in the Danish art canon.
