Vladimir Kagan, born in 1927 in Germay, was an American furniture designer. Due to the Nazi uprise in Germany, Kagan emigrated to the US in 1938 where he ended up studying architecture at Columbia University. Kagan's father was a cabinetmaker and from 1947 Kagan worked for him, learning the craft from scratch. He mainly worked with organically sculpted wood, wrought iron and cast aluminum, always striving for comfort and functionallity. Kagan opened his first store in New York 1949, and has since then had many famous customers such as Marilyn Monroe, Walt Disney and Gucci.
