Wim Delvoye (1965-) Belgium

Wim Delvoye was born in Belgium and is known as a visual artist. He is a neo-conceptual artist known for his sometimes shocking and inventive projects, which often focus on the body. The works are inherently contradictory: attractive, yet simultaneously repulsive. A more recent sensational project involves tattooing pigs since the artist believes that the animals would be more valuable from both a financial and physical standpoint. Previously Delvoye lived in Belgium, but when his work was judged illegal, he moved to China, where the restrictions were less stringent.
