Brangwyn had an international reputation during his lifetime, admired by such luminaries as Kandinsky, Klimt and Toulouse-Lautrec. In 1952 he was the first living artist to be honoured with a retrospective at the Royal Academy. His earliest mentors were Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo, William Morris and Siegfried Bing. Brangwyn was an independent artist and innovator. His subjects frequently included the dignity of human labour, and the working man. After Sir Frank Brangwyn (1807 - 1956) *ARR 'Antwerp the Last Boat' Poster, the last boat was specially designed for The Belgian Red Cross Fund, depicting refugees clambering down ladders from quayside onto a vessel below, framed and a portfolio cover, 1922, E.F Dalignan and Paul Turpin Ediiterus, Paris, lithograph, signed in pencil in the margin (2)
