Title with engraved vignette, engraved portrait of Cardinal Carlo Rezzonico the Younger (1724–1799), nephew of Pope Clement XIII, dedication with engraved vignette, VIII pp. with two engraved vignettes, 28 engraved plates (7 double-page, and of which 2 folding) by Gabbugiani, Mallia, Bartolozzi, Pazzi, Vanni, Gegori, and Capellan, after the frescoes painted by Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri, 1581-1641) in the Farnese Chapel of Saint Nilus (Chapel of the Founding Saints), executed in 1608 at the behest of Cardinal Odoardo Farnese. Engraved title (double-page), nine double-page engravings ‘pinxit in Aula Barberina’, depicting Pietro da Cortona’s (Pietro Berrettini, 1596-1669) frescoes in the salone of Palazzo Barberini, Cortona was commissioned by Cardinal Francesco to create the artistic centerpiece of the Barberini palace, the Allegory of Divine Providence. "Galleria Dipinta nel Palazzo del Prencipe Panfilio da Pietro Berrettini Da Cortona Intaglio da Carlo Cesio vero originale". Published by Gio.n Iacomo Rossi (Giovanni Giacomo De Rossi, 1627-1691), Rome [c 1661]. Etched double-page frontispiece, 15 etched plates (13 double-page, of with two folding) by Carlo CESIO (1626-1686), after Cortona's fresco and its stucco framework in the Gallery of Aeneas, Palazzo Pamphili, Rome. Cesi was commissioned to draw and etch the decorations of the Gallery by Prince Camillo Pamphili, who paid him on January 29, 1661 (Met.Mus. 51.501.4322) "Heroicæ virtutis imagines". Published by Giovanni Giacomo De Rossi, Rome c 1677. 18 (of 26) engraved plates (two large folding, also included two loose engravings printed without text) by Blondeau, Bloemart, Simon, Coenradt, Gerardin, Clouet, Visscher and Pierre Rossi's series of engravings of the Camera of Mars in the Pitti Palace in Florence with Pietro da Cortona's frescoes. The plates were published by Rossi in three parts, one each for the rooms of Jupiter, Mars and Venus, making a total of 26 plates for the whole series (Anna Grelle Iusco, 'Indice delle stampe de' Rossi', 1996, p.456. p.62-3). Folio (507x395mm). 70+2 plates + titles, vignettes and frontispice. Full red morocco gilt binding, richly decorated spine with five raised bands, gilt title, gilt rolls to the spine ends, boards richly decorated with gilt garlands, a gilt central floral and leaf pattern, gilt fillets on the board edges, all edges gilt, partly contemporary binding (the spine later), with new endpapers and blank leafs, and a secondary hand-texted title ("Le pitture di Domenichino a Grotta Ferrata la sala del Palazzo Barberini la galleria di Panfili").
